A total 275 wine tasters buckled down to the task of assessing competing wines and spirits. The judges ranged from specialist journalists, importers and multiple retail buyers (from chains like Auchan, Champion, Makro and Colruyt) to renowned sommeliers and enologists.
The United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, India, Russia…, in all forty countries - including the most prominent consumer markets - were represented on the tasting panel. Over just three days, the CMB takes a round the world trip. But what do its tasters think about the medals and the competition ?
“It is an honour to taste at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the world’s premier competitions, extremely well organised by a highly experienced team. Winning a medal in Brussels really makes all the difference when it comes to selling one’s wines in London, Paris or Berlin.”
“The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is hugely successful. It is every producer’s dream to win one of its medals.”
“The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is an excellent testing ground for producers and distributors. When you are in the trade, it is important to know whether other industry members enjoy your wine. After all, they have an informed, outside opinion. Despite the scale of the event, the wines are presented in the best possible conditions. The temperature, the glasses, everything is impeccable.”
“All of the judges are highly experienced wine tasters. The medals are therefore a reliable guideline when choosing a wine.”
“Wine culture is whole new trend in Asia. A medal awarded in Europe, at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, is of great significance.”
“Endorsement by an organisation as prestigious as the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is extremely significant for a distributor.” |
