The 'Best Wines' of the Concours Mondial 2009

The 16th edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles took place in Valencia (Spain) from the 25th to the 27th April. 6289 wines and spirits from 54 producing countries competed this year. A new record, justifying even more the appellation of ‘Concours Mondial’!
250 professional tasters – representing between them, 41 nationalities - were ready to taste these wines from around the world. The verdict of these tasters has now been unveiled by the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles organisers.
Italy (2), Spain, France and Portugal sharing the prestigious ‘Best Wine’ trophy of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2009, awarded to wines obtaining ‘absolute best’ in their categories:
- Best Sparkling: Champagne Bourgeois Cuvée du Dernier Siècle, Brut millésimé 2002 (FR)
- Best White: Adega Vila Real Grande Reserva, Douro 2007 (PT)
- Best Rosé: Chiaretto Giovanni Avanzi, Garda Classico 2008 (IT)
- Best Red: Protos Crianza, Ribera del Duero 2006 (ES)
- Best Sweet: Nes, Passito di Pantelleria 2007 (IT)
The trophy for 'Best Spirit' has been awarded to an Italian Grappa, elected the best product in the Spirits, brandies and other distillates category:
- Best Spirit: Osteria di Rubbiara, Pedroni, Grappa di Vinaccia di Lambrusco Invecchiata (IT)
