The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has been on tour since 2006, stopping at Lisbon, Maastricht, Bordeaux, Valencia and Palermo. The venue for the next competition was revealed during its last tasting session by an enthusiastic delegation of industry members from Luxembourg led by Roby Ley, director of the Wine & Vine Institute and wine inspector Marc Kuhn, who represents Luxembourg on the European Commission’s Wine Management Committee.

“Our country boasts a long-standing tradition of wine making” said Marc Kuhn, “but we lack international awareness. Organising the 2011 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Luxembourg will undoubtedly enable us to showcase the breadth and depth of our range of wines”.

It is an ambitious project but one that has the unanimous backing of the industry. The programme currently being put together in conjunction with the organisers of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the Luxembourg Wine & Crémant Promotion Board promises to be inspiring. In May 2011, Luxembourg dons the mantle of international wine capital and its Auxerrois, Rieslings, Pinot blancs and Gewurztraminers from the Moselle valley in Luxembourg are sure to bowl over the scores of industry members and wine writers covering the event.
