The 24th Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, which takes place from May 5 to 7, 2017 in Valladolid, Spain, will for the first time reward Outstanding Old Vintages.

In the interests of excellence and innovation, a section of the competition will be dedicated to outstanding wines from the last century, i.e. vintages before the year 2000. Until now, no other competition has provided such an opportunity for these fascinating, landmark wines to take their rightful place in the limelight.

Producers, collectors and appellations that would like others to discover the rare and unique character of these mature vintages have until March 3 to enter their exceptional wines. Taken from a consistent batch of at least 100 bottles, two sample bottles for each entry will be required and should be shipped following the same procedure used for other entries, plus an additional registration form for each submitted old-vintage sample. The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles or one of its sponsors retains the option of acquiring part or the entire batch at the ex-cellar price stated by the producer on entry, in accordance with the competition’s rules for entry.

A designated expert panel, with a renowned wine taster as its patron, will taste these rare wines blind and devote them its utmost attention. Each wine will be showcased in optimal tasting conditions using a specific protocol for each style.

This is without a doubt, a unique opportunity, both for rare wines to be given exposure by our panel of experts and for award-winning producers to access new markets.
